Session Details:
The worksop on "Soft Computing in Intelligent Agents and Web Technologies" (http://sci2s.ugr.es/SS-ISDA2009) is part of the Conference (ISDA 2009, http://cig.iet.unipi.it/isda09/)
The intersection between Soft Computing Intelligence and Agent technology opens new significant scenarios in many fields where the representation and management of complex systems play a fundamental role. In the formulation of Agent-based systems, the role of uncertainty is crucial for an efficient and coherent resolution of complex problems. Agents overcome classical programs thanks to their inner capabilities to be autonomous and to adapt their behavior with the changing of the environment where agents live and interact. In many cases, the Web is the natural environment where agents make their tasks, from caching and routing to searching, categorizing, and filtering. In recent years ontologies are being used in the Web scenario to construct semantically rich service and resource descriptions. This enhancement is important since it enables major understanding from machine-to-machine processes, also thanks to agents, improved by semantic modeling. In this scenario, agents may often meet uncertainty during their work, for the high complexity of the problem, for the approximation of the information, for the need to compare similarity among a wide range of ontological information. The objective of the proposed workshop is to highlight the ongoing research on softcomputing and agents, focusing on theoretical issues and applications on various domains on a Web framework. Ideas on how to solve Web problems using soft computing and agents, both in R&D and industrial applications, are welcome. Papers describing advanced prototypes, systems, tools and techniques and general survey papers indicating future directions are also encouraged.
We encourage authors to submit original papers as well as preliminary and promising works in the topics of the special session.
The topics for the special session include but are not limited to:
Authors are invited to submit papers through ISDA2009 web site. Papers are up to 6 pages and must be formatted according to the IEEE Journal format. The Proceedings will be published by IEEE CS Press. A number of selected high quality papers will be published in special issues of several international journals. Current list:
